Sonja
Schenk is a painter and media artist based in Los Angeles. She has participated in several recent group shows, including the 6th Annual Women’s Art Festival at 2nd City Council in Long Beach, curated by Sara Cochron, Asst. Curator LACMA, the annual show at Santa Monica Fine Arts Studios and the Eastside Art Crawl in Silverlake. Her work was also recently featured in NY Arts Magazine and at rhizome.org.
She has exhibited films and video installations at festivals and galleries, including the AFI festival in Los Angeles, New Langton Arts in San Francisco, Artists Space in New York, the Sundance Film Festival, the Rotterdam Film Festival, the AFI Festival, the San Francisco Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, Outfest L.A. and others. She has an MFA in Film from USC and a BA in Visual Arts and Communications from U.C. San Diego, where she studied with painter and film critic Manny Farber, video artist and activist DeeDee Halleck and filmmaker Jean-Pierre Gorin.
